INTRODUCING SEPHARDI FEST!
Take a walk through Sephardic history while experiencing the sights, sounds and exquisite flavors of Sephardi Fest 2017! Congregation Ezra Bessaroth and the Ezra Bessaroth Ladies Auxiliary will be host to this all day cultural celebration to be held Sunday, June 11th from 9am to 3pm, at Congregation Ezra Bessaroth located at 5217 S. Brandon Street in South Seattle’s Seward Park neighborhood. This is Ezra Bessaroth’s Annual Bazaar, Sephardic Food Festival and Cultural Expo rolled into one dynamic and fun-filled event. Ezra Bessaroth will also take this opportunity to honor their Ladies Auxiliary for 101 years of hard work and dedication!
Start with a traditional desayuno (breakfast) of mouth watering Sephardic savory pastries, listen to live Greek Island music, catch a Sephardic mini learning session and peruse crafts from a variety of artisans and vendors. Then, stroll over to the courtyard to savor a lunch of kabobs and Israeli salad at the Mandraki Mediterranean Grill. Check out the many Sephardic cultural exhibits and speak with community representatives such as Professor Devin Naar from the UW Sephardic Studies Department. Later, unwind at the Calle Ancha Cafe’ over glass of wine or a cup of Turkish coffee and a biscocho (hand braided Sephardic cookie) as you listen to Mizrahi (Middle Eastern) tunes.
There will be plenty for kids to do including a bouncy house, a delightful Hamsa motif art project and more. Come early and stay until the end. Or, stop by when you can. There will always be something unique and delicious happening! Admission is free. For more information contact the Ezra Bessaroth office at 206-722-5500.
